We here at Identity Australia have been driven for the past 6 years by the unstoppable force that is Lesley Piggott (CEO), but the time has come to say goodbye to Lesley as she makes her transition to retirement.
Lesley Piggott was the Master and Commander of this forever forward moving ship we call IDA and without Lesley's leadership through the treacherous waters that was the GFC we surely would not have come as far as we have.

Lesley you were not only the leader of Identity Australia but you were also the IDA parent who always listened and gave encouraging advice... Even if there had been a monumental mistake, Lesley would always say "There's another lesson we've learnt and we will never forget" That was just Lesley... always supportive, yet firm enough to rule the roost.
What does the future hold for Lesley Piggott? Well rumour has it she fancies herself as a bit of an author and plans to write her own book at her new home in South Australia alongside her wonderful partner Pam.
We ask Lesley to tell us herself in the comments of this post.

The staff here at Identity Australia will miss the smile and inspiration of one Miss Lesley Piggott (Master and Commander). Lesley you will forever be a part of our IDA family. Good luck with your future.
Goodbye Lesley Piggott - Leader, inspiration, friend and part of the family.

We are excited at Identity Australia to have a new team member! Mindy Wu has now been with us for over 8 months and has "settled in" to the role of Supply Manager (replacing Debbie Pierson who retired in July).
Mindy is a real dynamo! If you are a 'MASH' fan on tele, she is our equivalent of Radar O'Reilly! We only have to THINK about something, and Mindy already has worked out the logistics and has answers to the questions we have not even thought of yet!
Mindy has a really exciting history. She was born in Taiwan (Republic of China) and moved to Australia in her 18th year to study at University. After several years of study she has completed her PhD in "Extending Enterprise Architecture with Mobility ( the use of Mobile technology in Business Enterprises)". Even though Mindy is really Dr Mindy, she is just one of the gang at IDA - and also an Aussie now too!
When we asked Mindy what she did for fun and hobbies, she said she likes to watch all the Lawyer shows on TV so she can improve her negotiation skills! Look out to our Identity Australia Suppliers!
Mindy gave us an interesting answer when we posed her the question .... What would you do if you won $250,000? I must say, I haven't seen anyone figure out the amount to go into a term deposit and then the interest it would earn!! I think Mindy may be a financial wizard as well! The good news is that she did offer to give some money to her husband (Elvis) too!
I think Mindy has put a new meaning into 'multi tasking' at Identity Australia. In her previous employment, she was the personal assistant to the CEO, Product Sourcing Coordinator, Web master (and designer), IT support and eSales agent. She tells me she was also studing for her PhD at Uni at the same time - plus working in the UWS library part time too! NOW, THAT is really multi tasking in my books! No wonder she is unstoppable at work!
So, why did Mindy join Identity Australia? She was made redundant in February and wanted to find a career in an Aussie company that is a stable family business. In her search she found us - liked what she saw, a successful female CEO, a dynamic team, skilled Supply Mgr looking to retire, and thus we ALL joined forces. Mindy has embraced our desire to improve and streamline our processes - and her results speak for themselves!
If you ever need customised lanyards, promotional items, customised card holders or photo ID printers and ribbons, you will experience Mindy first hand! Our Sales team have every confidence to leave Mindy with the details to organise and deliver our custome
r's needs. We have significantly expanded our range of customised products since Mindy's arrival. Mindy has linked Identity Australia with the latest product ranges from new Suppliers around the world. If it is out there ..... Mindy will find it!
Mindy was voted Identity Australia's New Employee of the Year. Our freight professionals DHL Australia Logistics sponsored this Award at our recent training conference. Thanks DHL Australia Logistics! DHL help us rush our customer orders around the world, and their reliability is second to none!
Mindy supports her family back in Taiwan and visits them whenever she can. Distance can be tough on a close family, but social media and skype sure helps keep us all in touch these days. Mindy's husband is also famous, well, with a name like Elvis he must be well known! We really now can say that Elvis has left the building as we all saw him walk out of Identity Australia last month!
Please join us in sending Mindy a 'belated welcome' to Identity Australia!

Recently our team took some time to refresh our skills and learn some new tools in the quest to continually improve our service to YOU our customers. On May 21st Identity Australia and Datacard recognised the high achievers for the year at the annual Identity Australia Conference.
This year, Datacard sponsored the Service Development Award
Identity Australia has fulfilled the training requirements to qualify as the NSW
Datacard Authorised Service Centre.

The Identity Australia Service Technician for the Datacard Printer Range is Jeff Yutronic.
Jeff has spent many hours pulling Photo ID card printers apart and developing his technical expertise for trouble shooting any thing that may come up. He particularly prides himself in finding out those little 'tricky things' that can cause our customers concern with the interaction of the printer, software, network and settings. Jeff is a real whiz at this operational level and our customers are very complimentary about his level of service to them.
The Photo ID Service team at Identity Australia have developed a help centre which guides the user through some of the more common areas of use. Click on the link here to see what is available from the Help Centre.
Jeff carries out a monthly training session for the rest of the Sales and Service team at Identity Australia. During these sessions he trains the team in Photo ID Printer selection. Jeff draws from his experience around Australia with a vast number of small and large customers across Government, Recreation and Corporate users. Identity Australia have supported the Datacard Printer Range for over 10 years, and seen many developments to the functionality of the printers during that time. The witness list of Datacard customers at Identity Australia is extensive - call now to hear our testimonials.

The Conference was a great success and the day
was rounded out with a visit to the Cheeky Food Group in Surry Hills in the evening where Jeff and his teammates cooked up a MasterChef style meal for all. Don't let the flames put you off, Jeff really is a great cook as well as our top class Service Technician and his flambéed Asian prawn dish was sensational!

It's a month of mixed emotions at Identity Australia... Our long standing Supply Manag
er Debbie is leaving us to begin her journey into the retirement lifestyle with her husband Heta. They have been planning this retirement for many years.
Debbie holds the current IDA record for the longest notice period ... 18 months, which speaks volumes to Debbie's dedication and respect to the team here at Identity Australia.
Debbie was dedicated to providing quality products in timeframes that sometimes seemed like mission impossible. Deb still managed to hit the target which really resinates with the culture and ideals of Identity Australia... "Customer comes first!" and boy didn't our sales team remind her of that every day.
We asked Debbie a few q
uestions before her departure, here are her answers...
- What are you going to miss about working at Identity Australia?
The long drive in the morning and the pay packet!
- What did you enjoy most from working at Identity Australia?
The way the owner, Narelle, always appreciated our efforts, especially when it was stressful or busy, with a kind word and a supportive email. I think I am also meant to say the great team - but why give them big heads? This is about me isn't it?
- How long were you at Identity Australia and why did you join?
I joined 'the 'IDA family' 4.5 years ago. I was tricked into joining - I was looking to retire back then and only came in as a favour to Lesley to advise then GM. Next thing I know, I had been offered the job and was expected to start the very next day! I thought it would be a challenge and I was so right!! The job has changed and grown considerably since I started but I know I have left it in good hands with Mindy.
- Why do you think our customer loyalty is high?
I know how hard I worked each day, and this was as a result of a very demanding sales team - they only have one focus - our customers. So I reckon it has to be the high service standards the sales team put on me and themselves!
- What was the most memorable moment your time with us?
Which one to choose?......was it the greeting on my first day with a bunch of yellow roses, a card of welcome and a warm hug from Narelle? Or maybe sitting alone on the stairs, waiting for Star Track to pickup on Xmas Eve afternoon......
- How do you feel about the growth of our products?
I know I had fun sourcing some of the new products for our expanding Promotional Products markets over the years. But I also had a great team in our China factories who kept me up to date with new card holders, lanyards, retractable reels and various other ID accessories.
- What is one thing you would not change about Identity Australia?
It has to be the teamwork and the owner Narelle. We all felt appreciated and valued. I have worked in companies both large and small throughout the years but they just don't compare to Identity Australia. There is such a feeling of 'family' there.
- What are your plans for the next 12 months?
Spend some time with my grandchildren, sell the house and fit out the caravan for long-term travel. Then hit the road!!! Anybody want to buy a fully furnished house in Sydney?
- Any parting wishes/comments to the customers, suppliers and staff of Identity Australia?
To our wonderful customers - thank you for your custom and also your understanding when things sometimes didn't go quite to plan.
To our suppliers - thanks for your patience while I found my feet when I started and your support throughout my time here. Many have become friends and I already miss that regular contact.
And to my colleagues - what can I say? Thankyou for removing all sharp objects on the tough days - although this may have been done more out of self-preservation than any other motive..lol. On a more serious note, thank you for your help and support - without that, my work would have been so much harder to do. Isn't it amazing what teamwork can achieve??!!
How do Debbie's answers compare to yours?
How would you like to give Debbie a message before she makes tracks? Please leave them in the comments of this post and we will give them to her with a big bunch of flowers on behalf of you, our fantastic loyal customers.
Good luck Deb you'll be missed by everyone! Enjoy your retirement... You deserve it!

It is with sadness that we advise of the passing of Dorotha Shettel, the Grandmother of Katherine Phipps (Company Director). Grandma Dorotha died peacefully at the St Vincent's Hospice yesterday afternoon (May 31st). Dorotha had entered her 90th decade and was taken from us after an extremely short illness. It is a relief that she did not suffer very long and thus was able to enjoy a fully functional life for her entire days.
The team at Identity Australia wish to send our condolences to the family. Our thoughts are with Katherine, Stephen and children Lilly, Rowan and Digory. We also offer Stephen's father Gary (Dorotha's son) and his wife Libby and their son Ben our condolence wishes as they grieve the loss of a mother and Grandma who was a very special person to all the family.
May the happy memories of a long life serve to ease the pain of passing.
From Lesley Piggott and the Team at Identity Australia
Well it was that time of the year again to have our annual staff conference to help us improve our customer's experience with us. :-)
What were the main points? Well it was our culture and how we believe we are perceived by our wonderful customers!
- Speedy
- Fun
- Knowledgeable
- Helpful - Go that extra mile
- Efficient
- Very Service Orientated
But don't let us tell you how we think you perceive us... Tell us how you perceive us and what you think of us. We LOVE feedback especially from our awesome customers.
How will this conference benefit our customers?
Coming out of this conference came some brilliant well thought out ideas. These will celebrate our customers; assist you, our customer with easy to use information and videos to improve your understanding and experience with us.
To finish the IDA 2012 Staff Conference our CEO Lesley Piggott and our Director Narelle Phipps decided we should have an evening in the city with dinner and lots of fun... So off to the Cheeky Food Group for a FANTASTIC night of cooking lessons and cooking our own fine dining meal from whoa to go! IS that Jeff cooking up card holders?
The entire team had a fantastic time and Daniel from Cheeky Food Group was an amazing teacher and very very patient with us. The entire team had a ball and we would highly recommend this experience for any organisation looking for something a little different for a company outing.
